Dell will convert all his VMW shares to AVGO shares. He will be able to avoid short term gains because of this. You, on the other hand, may get some percentage of AVGO stock, and certainly cash out the remaining due to limited AVGO float. The biggest pig owns the trough

AVGO down over $20 today
If/when Michael Dell offloads his billion dollar worth of AVGO shares, avgo will tank. We (the employees) will remain the bag holders.

AVGO stock trades in reasonably tight correlation to NVDA stock. At this point VMW stock price is linked to AVGO.

Also, small investors (like employees) won't know about the selloff until after it has happened. Only the very wealthy, e.g. Michael Dell, have the opportunity to exit before the decline impacts their holdings. Don't be fooled by the current Bull market. The correction is coming, like all the prior times when stock prices are unrealistically inflated.
It's no longer about if it happens, but when it happens. Be prepared.
