Severance in Newco

If Broadcom sells pieces of VMware (for example EUC) to Newco. Would Newco be obligated to honor the VMware severance package or would they be free to use whatever package they already have? This question assumes Newco does a lay off of ex-VMware employees in the first year,

So as folks have mentioned before when BC got rid of PS for Symantec and CA they sold it to HCL. Those employees could either work for HCL or get nothing in return. If they were laid off in the buyout it was HCLs policy.

Do you think that when we bought Carbon Black and laid anyone off they got CB severance? That would be foolish because the company being bought could make an outlandish severance policy that would be unprofitable. Use common sense here.

The amount of cluelessness is crazy on this board. Just good that the people here do not represent the majority of employees employee base, but just the most anxious bunch.
So, here's what you know for sure: Nobody owes you sh*t. If you are in the US, severance as such is just a nicety. You're not entitled to anything and whatever employee benefits carry over in a transition are just the result of some of the people you decry here on this board looking out for you.

If you can't take it, you should have resigned a long time ago!

Interesting question, because this further demonstrates every VMW employee's future volatility. We don't have answers to these "what if" questions, since it depends on things yet to be determined. I'm in HR, and I don't know anything for certain.

Frankly, I'm puzzled why some people post their opinion of the way they think they'll be terminated. At the risk of stating the obvious, we have no control over HOW the BC team chooses to process the upcoming layoffs. The only control you have as an individual is the right to resign and leave, anytime you like. That's all.

Therefore, please don't be foolish and believe that you know what Hock and his team will do next. We will know the terms and conditions of our own individual situation for sure when we get the email, and not before. Until then, we all must patiently wait.

Usually it’ll be Newco’s severance policy. There is no VMware anymore at that point
