I guess you should have interned at the company "that everyone is envious of".
At another company that everyone is envious of, interns got offers even during hiring freeze.
Why would you want one? You're asking advice from a board dedicated to LAYOFFS...
My team has an intern and my manager told me that he believes interns most likely won’t get return offers until the fate of their wider org and immediate team is known. This would mean waiting until decisions about full-time employees have been made and layoffs have been announced for the regular population of employees. Based on the September notification date, don’t expect news about a return offer until sometime in October after RIF notifications. You’d be smart to apply elsewhere in the meantime.
