Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Still have nobody to train

It’s been a week since getting my layoff notice and I still have been given nobody to train.

What is wrong with this company? The last time I got laid off I was training people in a few days time.

Why lay people off if you don’t even have a plan for reorganization yet? Makes no sense. At least I got paid for a week to do nothing. Counting days until severance.

It's not uncommon for management to assume that people are commodities that are easily replaced by offshore or automation. However everyone who has worked at CVS for any time should understand the underlying complexity of the systems and processes involved that take years to fully grasp. This isn't something bringing a substitute "up to speed" is going to resolve. Those leaving will convey some high level information in order to tick off a box, but the end result is very expensive delays due to the need to acquire information, access, approvals, and coordination of efforts.

This is not new news to those who have the power. Putting two and two together our leaders found out about this at the beginning of the year . They eliminated jobs then and now and more coming . Pretty soon all the entry level employees will be outsourced .
We got “help” from offshore and lo and behold they already know what to do just need refresher to unit specifics. Someone made a faux paux in a meeting and said something to make us all think this team has been in operation for a while .

Same boat. My department is offshoring a lot of work to be "automated" by a team of Indians. No training or hand-off process from leadership. Just chilling for the past week.

Why would you train someone in India? They tell them to work without training.

May be because your job is indeed needing no training to puck up or your job is irrelevant. This seems to me they have made the right decision with you.
