Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

What criteria for layoffs?

Last time, they said they were cutting the low performers (1's and 2 ratings).

Assuming that all that remain now are people who are performing at satisfactory level and above (3+ ratings)... What criteria are they gonna use for cutting now?

Long tenureship? High title roles? Management level? Random lottery? Entire teams?

if you are not a status collector you are toast. your job function will be outsourced to a low cost country so that status collectors can justify their existence.

It is not "illegal" to lay people off for ANY reason (short of being part of a protected class) as California is a "right to work" state, and low performance was literally publicly stated by QC as a criterion for layoff during the last round.

It's (literally) illegal to do performance based layoff in California. Layoff can only be associated with positions.

It will be team and project-based. People who are adaptable or have desirable skills for other, high-priority projects will be moved.

Unfortunately, some good people will lose their jobs through bad luck of being on deaf-end projects
