Thread regarding FedEx Corp. layoffs

Some FedEx employees are not union and will not stand up for themselves when needed.

Why is it a surprise when weak non-union people are left in the dark as for their own working future? Get some guts and take a stand, unionize together. Compare your wages and benefits to UPS ,BNSF and many other union companies. Then look at severance pay in case of layoffs. Harassment grievance rights alone are worth being union. Some FedEx employees insure their home, car and even buy life insurance but never insure the job that pays those insurance policies by paying 50-100 per month to belong to a union. Hard workers? Yes. Good at protecting themselves? No.

For no education other than high school diploma they have successfully outsmarted the "elites" in achieving $50.00 per hr. and all benefits paid. Plus they have no college tuition loans of $100,000 or more to strangle their future. Union folks pay about $100 per month for this protection that guarantees the company boss cannot bring in their own cousin Bob who has no education and no work ethics to replace you, which happens in nonunion jobs often.

Good pay and benefits cause union employees to be the hardest, safest workers because they are motivated and thankful. Try ripping off employees with low wages, high monthly benefit payments and receive poor moral, low productivity, high workers comp. injuries, fear of job loss with no security and high turnover rates. Example: look at the extreme profits UPS brings to investors. Why? UPS is union and squeezes the maximum work out of content, secure, happy workers.

That's it. Let's pay someone $50/hr to do some mindless menial labor that has no education beyond a high school diploma, no marketable skillset, and apparently no drive or desire to get either. If you don't like your job or the fact that you "think" you are not being paid what you are worth, how about stop whining and get an education or skillset that an employer sees as marketable and you'll get paid better.

Unions are what cause products in the US to cost more than global competitors and the quality su-ks because union workers know that they can perform poorly and not get fired without being heavily compensated. All while the union bosses are getting rich. Unions are a racket.

Can lead a horse to water but you cannot make them drink. Regretfully people will learn the hard way that an" employee at will" means you will be thrown away at the employers will and have no recourse. Learn from it and work only union the next time. Sympathies to those effected by any layoff.

Great workers with no union protection are like a wobbly lopsided football trying to roll along. Great workers that do have union protection are like a well-rounded basketball that both company and employee roll together evenly in harmony for both.

Huge difference between union and non union severance packages when job ends usually. Very sorry for anyone facing layoffs. Be strong and learn to work union only so one at least has some basic say or rights in the end.
