3M is a disgrace.
When you post here, on Glassdoor or on any other social media, you can bet that HR is reading it cause it’s their job to read anything written about 3M, but they lack the power to remove these posts since they don't own or control these platforms.
HR can only flag posts that are illegal or breach the platform's rules, and only if that turns out to be true, the post gets pulled by site mods/site owners.
To ensure your post remains intact, make sure it complies with the platform’s rules: avoid offensive language, personal attacks, and naming non-executive individuals. When critiquing management, center your feedback on their performance rather than their appearance or personality.
And that’s how any of us can write a hush truth that doesn’t get taken down from social media.
Being Irish at 3M is not necessarily a good thing. My manager was criticized for being Irish. He is third generation but for some reason he was criticized. Irish is a nationality and no one should be criticized for being Irish, German, Jewish, Italian, etc.
will be glad that this site is monitored. at least real candid feedback will go to them. unlike those employee opinion surveys...
wait a minute. Does 3M HR even conduct employee survey nowadays?
i am in IT. 3M does not monitor this site
Keep everything company and personal completely separate. I won’t even log into my personal email on my 3M computer like I know so many people do. The people who use their 3M phone for personal reasons and have their entire lives there for 3M to access…are you d-mb? They say they don’t access some apps, but let’s be real, they totally do. Have two separate phones, or don’t get a 3M phone. There’s no reason to have a 3M phone unless you plan to be available for work 24/7/365. If that is you, I’m so sorry for your happiness. That email can wait until you log into the 3M computer at 8 AM tomorrow.
You'd have to be pretty d-mb to post on this forum using company resources.
Seriously with the leprechaun comment? 1 - tireman is Scottish not Irish. 2 - regardless that’s racist. 3 - half the people getting let go that you supposedly are standing up for are probably Irish American. This site encourages a lot of d-mb commentary but think we can be better than that
Why would anyone use a 3M device or 3M network to visit this site? Although I doubt they have the resources or can really do much if they do log your activity on this site on a company device using the company network on your personal PC or cell for example.
Just opens up a can of worms to legal and PR issues.
I don't know if they're specifically targeting traffic to this site, but in general internet traffic is monitored and screenshots are taken to detect activity that doesn't comply with the computer use policy. If you're using a 3M device or a personal device on a 3M network (secure, guest, etc.) expect that your activity is being monitored.
While the steps outlined earlier are smart things to do, do you really think that Mother Mining with all it's financial constraints and archaic IT capabilities can monitor who is posting what ?
Yep, I would even go further:
- Don't use any company equipment (phone, tablet, desktop, laptop, or carrier pigeon).
- Don't use any company networks (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or even through a 3M cellular phone hotspot)
I've assumed this site is blocked on the 3M net anyway, but I'm not going to go checking with my laptop. (Blocked except for Pete's hall monitors... Hi guys, really love the new org structure... (giggle) )
Whatever you do, just don't post using company laptop on 3M secure.
Do you really believe in being anonymous on the Internet? Who cares what they do people of slavelandia.
I agree. Several innocuous posts have been removed; in one case a comment followed the removal whereby the poster intimated they were 3M management. The post was visible for less than 10 minutes. Made me wonder if the 3M dingleberries were watching. Nothing surprises me anymore.
I don't believe anyone at 3M can get a post deleted if it doesn't violate the policy. There are a lot of companies on this site. The admins are not going to bow to 3M. No reason to.
It's the end of 3M if Tireman gets the CEO of remainCo after Roman retires. Its will be in the history book like in Kodak.
Since a particular individual arrived, there’s been a battle royal over PFAS. Six or seven posts at a time with hundreds of down votes. This kind of corporate propaganda is outrageous.
It’s been obvious by the drastic changes in the “thumbs up “ and” thumbs down “ numbers. Maybe the employees are being paid for the votes here, like for the sickening LinkedIn posts we are seeing. Company is desperate to make it seem like all is well. We know better. Employees have never mattered. Just the stock holders, the board members and the c-suite. I feel stupid I ever thought otherwise. Shame on me.
Ever since Gibbons blew a gasket when asked about his son working for Kearney, I've noticed this board is not only being monitored but also some posts that clearly do not violate the guidelines are getting removed.
Be careful out there!
