The Q-tards that have been here for 20+ years have ZERO real-world, marketable skills. They are toast if let go. Resting and vesting hasn't been on any job description that I've seen. I guess they'll either retire with their gains, counting pennies, or will have to buy a tent and join the crowds downtown.

They are picking only some levels due to some legal reason, I think to keep hiring in some other levels not included in layoff.

Don't worry about the Principals. If they k!ssed @ss once, they can do it again at the next place.

70%? Qualcomm couldn’t operate after a cut like that. This is unrealistic on its face. Let me guess, Broadcom. Will we never be rid of Broadcom trolls?

LOL ... Q is top heavy. So 70% at Staff / Sr Staff / Principal will be like 70% of the employees. Why did you leave off Sr Staff? Or do you not know this title level exists?

I would say 100% of them will be removed, 70% guaranteed.

Higher titles definitely affected due to cost. But non-productive low levels is also extra cost that will be removed as in prior significant layoffs. In crunch times only the most productive are still kept to keep running the machine.

If you are a realtor or a property manager and work at Qualcomm, you will be fine. If you are stupid enough rely only on Qualcomm job, assume your job is on jeopardy. All the managers, VPs, Sr. Dirs, Dirs will keep the folks they work with on their side gig around.

This time will be more like 2014 layoffs. All levels were affected then as the reductions were huge. Engineer/Sr engineer were heavily affected in the US. In US most productive are staff engineers and in India most effective are Sr-engineers.
