IT support should be local, outsourcing is only done by an inexperienced management. The idea of global support is a big failure.

Yes, many Fortune 500 companies outsourced IT to India. All the C-suite folks said outsourced IT orgs are just as strong as those in US but 10 times cheaper. But guess what? Every single time they had any tiny little IT issues, who did they call? Indian IT group? He-l no! Always a local exec support IT person who can solve their problem first try! Yep, outsourced IT to India is a great idea as long as they don't have to personally work w/ them. Do you know how many exec support IT resources each of these companies has??

@ypo+1oaZ48cx interesting, had no idea that one could have such a feedback about Indian IT. More than 1000 US companies offices are in India to support their IT work. You can't deny Indian IT talents. "High-level execs see cost cutting and think it’s great". One can form a wrong perception for 1 -2 years, not more :-)

@ilf+1oaZ48cx: you forgot to close that off with a /sarcasm tag. Either that, or you are smoking something too powerful.

I have never ever met anyone who thinks Indian IT is worth it. High-level execs see cost cutting and think it’s great, but they would never utilize OneIT themselves. Like the previous person wrote, the only chance you have is finding a US or European IT person and leaning on them for help.

Indian IT is a massive joke. I promise that they could cut all of IT in India and nobody would be affected. The effect would be positive actually.

We are a small office on the east coast run by a sr director. And we are lucky cuz we have 2
local IT supports, because of them the entire office doesn’t have to bother with OneIT. Everyone in the office likes them, including our big boss, and we all know they are the least likely to be cut.

Indian IT provides the solution. Possibly it may be taking longer time to resolve it, but do not underestimate the value it is adding.

I’ve interacted with the IT groups in India. It’s so painful and beyond useless. They’ve made the situation worse for me multiple times… all they do is read from outdated web pages.

You’d be better off setting your computer on fire and requesting a new one.

I’m not sure if the answer is to bring those jobs back or not, but they’d be better off having no IT than Indian IT.

Any roles like processing and validating can be easily outsourced.
