I have read throughout all the postings, and I thought that I would add my comments. First, my heart and prayers go out to all those that have been dismissed from their jobs. I was once employed by Optum supporting WellMed after being terminated from my last company and another based on the company filing bankruptcy. Being terminated left me feeling felt rejected and betrayed by the ones I closely worked with as they did not even call to see how I was doing. However, I was Blessed to have worked with some great people at all levels in the Optum/WellMed organization. (Not the high-end cloud level executives). It's hard not knowing where and when the next check would come nor how would I make ends meet supporting a family. My faith got me through the obstacles until I landed another job. I understand you are going through a lot and feeling overwhelmed. Have faith and do not get discourage and things will work out. Worrying won't put food on the table and nor will it make any difference. When I was faced with my setback, I focused on regrouping my thoughts and rearranging my priorities. You are the only ones that are losing jobs or having your house destroyed. It will take time, but it will all work for you.
For those that say that they put heart and soul into their jobs please don't give that up when you find your next job because you will not be happy. That's part of who you are and what will make the difference in being successful in your new position. I understand that you feel betrayed but holding back is not the answer. Unfortunately, companies do whatever it takes to stay profitable at the expense for their most valuable assets the employees. Don't let them steal you Joy of who you are or what you can become. You will be in a new different environment.
Also, it's never easy for the ones that stay behind who will be looking over their shoulders wondering when it will be their turn and picking up additional work with the same pay. Just do what you can without stressing yourself over work.
There is no easy way to overcome your grief. Have Faith and it will work out. Work towards having joy in your heart and make time for your family. It's all up to you. In my case I never made the big bucks that I previously made however, I also didn't have all the stress, pressures, and responsibilities that came with the job.
Not to be preachy but when I lost my job, I felt like the apostle Peter trying to walk on water and sinking because I changed focus from Jesus to the large waves at hand drowning me. Once I regained focus it all worked out.
