Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Floundering, Flopping Around, Failing

Of the different groups, which 1 do you consider to be floundering, flopping around, and failing the most. i.e. Refining. I know this is a very hard question because as a whole they all are performing so poorly.

The L and D group of HR. They’re in over their heads incompetent and totally buffoonish.

To the person that said HR - the OP asked who was "floundering" not who is "philandering"

The answer is obviously the ELT. Zero leadership. Zero vision. Zero accountability.

+1 for Board of Directors.

I have worked with people in Corporate Communications. Like many groups, they have some very talented people, but are limited by the lack of leadership and compelling vision from our ELT. The Board should ensure our ELT are properly motivated to create a course for the future and company culture that are inspiring and ensure full employee engagement and commitment. That is how a company achieves excellence.

Some of the better ideas and vision have originated from individuals and grass-roots teams, e.g. Our Energy In Action. These are great and if we actually trained managers on how to instill them, to truly make people feel valued and to help them grow in their career, we could be a great company again. Instead they are often words on the wall, and the chain of command, which starts at the Board and the ELT, remain increasingly disconnected from the experience of employees.
