Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Remote work from Mexico

I’m asking here because I’ve asked my director this question and she has not answered.
Midwest winters are brutal for my arthritis. I am a full-time remote employee and I would like to move to Mexico for 1 to 2 months but not sure what’s allowed. I know we have a lot of permanent employees working from India and the Philippines, but I’m not sure if these flexibilities apply to US base employees.
Has anyone done this before? And please save your comments on the safety issues in Mexico. Thanks

The employee engagement says remote work is anywhere in the US. The IT equipment must be secured in the US and returned on demand. They don’t want subscriber information sent over Mexican telecom.

@OP look into Rio Grande area in south Texas. That were all the snowbird go. Weather is pretty nice during winter

Security department would probably freak out if you logged in from Mexico.

At least two of the seven posts on this thread are putting people first. I will say to the second poster in agreement with the “this is a layoff thread” I do appreciate your articulate response. However, again I stand behind the poster. This colleague already addressed the reason they decided to post here. I just hope this original posters engagement with CVS isn’t eroded due to the negative comments. To the original poster we are all not like this and happy to answer questions (regardless of thread) the best we can.

I agree with the person who wrote "isn't this a layoff thread"...and as far as the advice of keep scrolling?...scroll to the top of this page where it says..."Thread regarding CVS layoff". Folks are getting laif off, and to talk about working remotely in Mexico or whatever when folks lives are being negatively effected could be considered "heartless" in a forum designed to answer questions and support those that are getting laid off...not about working in a warmer environments ocassionally...

First, to whoever said this is a layoff thread bu---r off. Does it really hurt to respond with some human decency to be kind or I don’t know crazy thought - just keep scrolling. You had to put extra effort just to click on the post and then respond. Why not choose kindness during this time - not exactly leading with heart or putting people first are we. To the poster you can work remote anywhere within the 50 states, I personally split my time between properties for half the year and am versed in the remote requirements. Heck sometimes I’ll spend months at a time one place, then another, and another. So if it’s in the states go for it!

Look up work at home policy via colleague zone. You need to work in one of the 50 states.

I wouldn't count on it. You are not allowed to take a CVS computer out of the country. Those working abroad have special work arrangements. CVS frowns upon permanent work from home.

Even if they say Yes you can work remotely, they may end up giving you a salary based on location. So what they would pay in mexico is what you may earn for a few months.

This board is about all kinds of working conditions.

@OP, CVS will frown on remote working outside the country you are based in. There will be a literal mountain of income tax and work authorization considerations, for one thing.

That said, Texas is on the menu. Parts of Texas are quite cozy in winter, and with no state income tax your tax time paperwork isn't any more complicated.

what does this question have to do with layoffs...isn't this a layoff thread...this is a question for your leadership...in the absence of a leadership response ask your HRBP.
