@3lhn+1oYP4m8n In most situations, managers dont know who is getting riffed. They find out last minute too.
My maanger purposely took PTO the day of my team's layoffs. Took it super last minute too. Cowardly move.
My manager only works 20 hours a week without using any PTO and could care less about the layoffs
UM are initials. The reason they'd take PTO is to not have to deal with any blowback. They are PTO long enough to cover both 10/5 and 10/19. Coincidence? Sure.
Don't worry, if there is layoff, they will phone it in like they do all day long.
Layoffs come from the executive level. How would giving up earned compensation improve the situation?
I think they were using UM as initials for a specific manager and not utilization management. Utilization management is hiring and there are not even hundreds to lay off
This is a manager that has direct accountability for those being laid off.
Maybe I should have better clarified. This specific manager is in no danger of being "reduced," but right when hundreds of layoffs are beginning, he takes upwards of two weeks of PTO.
Just trying to use up that PTO before I get laid off or quit!
How do you know of upcoming layoff announcements for UM? Are you sure your managers are aware? Honestly anyone at risk of layoff should only carry a minimum of PTO balance
