Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

I was a fool to believe in 2U

I am a long-term employee. I believed in this company. I bought into the stock option plan and invested a lot of my retirement savings. As of today I’ve lost $40,000. I feel like a fool. While Chip puts up pictures of himself having a good old time with his football buddies and his new venture. I can honestly tell you this place has become a hot mess. Anyone who doesn’t have their résumé updated is a bigger fool.

Holy cr-p I'm glad I'm gone. With everything going down in edtech, no reason to stick around.

Remember immediately following the huge 2019 admissions team layoffs when we were all mailed boxes of candy and Chip posted photos of his huge halloween display like tons of people hadn't just lost their jobs?

Or last year when we were all told we could stay remote and people made life decisions based on that, only for him to do a 180 and get angry when people in the all-company call chat dared to push back? The real Chip came out, lots of attitude, and you could practically hear him responding to people making 5-figure salaries with, "It's one banana, Michael, what could it cost? Ten dollars?"

Chip will tell everyone of his humble beginnings, but like anyone else with big $$$$ all he cares about is adding another couple of zeroes to his own net worth. He doesn't care about you, the students, or anything at this company as long as he's getting paid.

It’s disgusting and tone deaf the way Chip continues to present himself during the chaos, sadness, stress and uncertainty that the people who made him his money are experiencing. He pretended to be everyone’s best friend and champion, but I’m almost convinced he’s nothing more than a modern day snake charmer. He never had a long term plan. He got in, got his money - now he’ll be out and casting spells on unsuspecting athletes until he runs that into the ground in similar fashion. There were others before us. It’s a clear pattern. He thinks he’s a rock star; he’s after the fame and the celebrity connections, no matter the cost. He already got the money.
