What about fixed income team? Any layoffs there?

From the email it just seems like there will be a lot of layoffs and then switch arounds with some employees going into other roles. Their basically starting the next round of it which is why we probably received the email.

Then they scheduled another townhall meeting to discuss updates to the transformation changes.

Why is the CEO still there after Citi stock dropped 40%? Not only is she still in position, but she’s also commanding the layoffs of employees.

Execs like to use buzzwords to hide lack of real plans. Most projects have been cancelled or are pending. Project paralysis. Which train are workers supposed to get on. Board needs to step in to save company.

Why continuing hiring in tech if they are going to lay people off soon? The career site is full of tech roles. I know some areas will have more scrutiny than others, however, it is very awkward welcoming new hires in this sinking ship.

they are going after anyone that is not seen as totally essential i.e. making money for the bank / not in a low cost center. If you are "functional" as in Tech and you are not in India or PH you are going to be looked at. You can assured of this. If you get laid off and it suits you, that is great. Accept the payout if you get one and move on. There are plenty of workshops being held by seniors this week so don't remotely think this is not all being figured out.

Yes, @kuj+1oVEf48i. Tech roles are included under functional roles.

Best option is to move to your business team if you are in trouble

Functional roles are all non business like technology, support, operations etc.
as J pointed in her recent interview she said infotech is bloated and will clean it.
All non significant roles will be taken off like QA, infra and dev managers

You simply can not trust anything Citi says anymore. Trust is gone! Employee should demand senior leadership change!

So mostly just shuffling of groups from A to B or C to A

Read the post below. Functions are clearly listed - taken directly from Citi SharePoint / Hub.

Citi has became a big joke! The issue at Citi is not employees, it is the people in senior leadership that are simply outdated and rotten. They need to be replaced by a new generation of competent leaders. Investors and board members need to demand change at the top!

Functions is code word for every job except execs. Even after layoffs are complete those left will be demoralized for years.

That very long email to say most of the same. I think the worst part is the lack of give a sh-t for mental health while pretending to care about mental health and wellness. Peep the “mental health day” email was sent out two hours after her email. It’s just disgusting at this point. Who has the mental capacity at this point to put in 100% effort for a place that keeps threatening you every other day via email and worthless meetings. And this nonsense is to continue until end of March - another 5-6 months. People will be in the looney bin by the time Citi is done with their BS. Absolutely ridiculous approach - still no true narrowing of the potential JD population. Functions is likely 200k of the 240k people. 🙄

When I read Sara's email, I said "Pick me, pick me."

On the Hub there’s a menu item- Functions. Under Functions, it lists Functional groups. My assumption is that these area are what is being referred to in Sara’s email:

Finance, Operations & Tech, HR, Internal Audit, Risk, Legal & Compliance, ESPA.

Agree with everything @ldv+1oVEf48i said above. Also, Employees who were Laid-off had the knowledge and experience behind driving the current projects and assignments. I've personally watched the train wreck both in slow and fast motion of projects and assignments Fail or falling apart because the people Citi Fired had the knowledge and experience for those roles and projects. NO smooth transitions. 90%+ of All Jobs at Citi are Functional Roles. So this means everyone's Jobs are Not safe. Advice to Laid-Off Employees: There are Other Banks. If you have Accounts at Citi, take your Money Out of Citi. Since Citi screwed you and your family over, why continue to let them use your Money and make more Money from your Money ??? Make sure to tell and advertise to your family, friends and neighbors NOT to bank at Citibank. Citi screwed you and your family and took food out of your mouth, why not sc--w them?

I had the same question. I thought every roll was functional. Maybe that is what Sara is referring to. Everyone's roll will be scrutinized.
Yet again Citi will JD the talent and later they will hire brand new people to recreate a the same team.
They will once again miss out by not keeping an experienced person and training them for a new roll.

Her reference to a smooth transition is probably a bunch of bull though. I have seen more work fall through the cracks, especially when they layoff entire teams.

@jve+1oVEf48i Well, they are probably looking at the people who filled out vs who did not too. This year probably wasn't a good time not to fill it out. No one unless they are already on their way out is going to be 100% forthcoming on those surveys anyway.

Yeah. The higher ups keep sending out messages that say pretty much the same thing in different ways. It is a way to look like we are constantly being kept in the loop which is not the case.

I agree. Like functional roles are the majority of positions here. It is worrisome and this communication just opened up even more cans of worms in my opinion.

As for VOE, we all know that cr-p is not anonymous or confidential even when data is gathered by 3rd parties for a company. Nothing at at work is anonymous or confidential. Lol.

Just read the email and the first thing that jumped out was "functional" roles. Like what are those??? Aren't all roles functional?

Performance criteria, talent processes, as well. Could be anyone, anywhere, any level. No one should think it won't happen to them.

It seems execs are buying time. Not saying much. Functions includes almost everyone. Email says they are looking at VOE feedback to decide who stays or goes. VOE was said to be confidential. Why VOE?
