Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

Re-org again?

Anyone knows whether there'll be layoffs or RA's again? EDs are being shuffled around, reporting to each other just bloating executive levels. Lower level employees are disappearing.

If you having trouble to post on this site, you will need to US vpn tunnel. Else you'll get errors 'slowdown, typing to fast' or something to that nature.

And yes, too many managers with nonsense busywork to keep them around.

we are carrying to many stay at home americans [sic] and executives, picking up full benefits and at inflated costs.

Translation: We hate Americans. We are a "high tech" company that requires people to come into the office to work. We have to run the company like it was 1980 because we have to treat employees like children and police their behavior. Otherwise, there would be no need for management, and we can't cut management! No! Even though we'd save 100s of millions per year and likely not need to have layoffs then, we need "leadership" to look busy, going to meetings and spending all their time pretending to look important.

This company is so backwards it becomes a bigger joke with every passing year.

Fire 70% of management, gut the useless HR department, and cut the bloated travel budget and this place will be more than profitable for years to come.

In Lenovo, Reorg=Layoffs!!!

When the layoff happens depends on when they want them gone. I would guess the will be out around Thanksgiving with exits at Christmas. Not the best of economies to be out of a work because a lot of employers in RTP are trying to figure out what they are doing. They hired a lot of people with bloated salaries a little over a year ago and now have those high expenses against the bottom line. I am sure quite a few did the same going to Lenovo.

To see if you may be impacted, look at your vested value of your company funded future health account. If that is close to your severance or more than it, you will find yourself on the list. That is pretty much anyone in an acquisition or been there for 15 years or more. Next, if you are a Male near or over 50 you most likely will be on a list especially caucasion.

It's hard to work at Lenovo when 1) you're not Chinese and 2) you report to Chinese management. EEOC rules are not followed a
by Chinese leadership and HR (Chinese) does nothing. I was let go because my Chinese manager said I was an old woman who made too much money. My reviews were good and I received High bonuses; but apparently my gender and age bothered my manager.

12% plus reduction - all business units affected, about time, we are carrying to many stay at home americans and executives, picking up full benefits and at inflated costs.

When I look around I see quite a bit of dead weight, hopefully they trim in the right places.

I don’t know for fact but travel restrictions & news they’ll no longer cover mobile expenses point to yes, more layoffs. Now the real question is if they’ll get rid of the folks doing the work or finally trim the fat off middle management.
