Why Cisco security also hit hard?
Juniper given up on their SRX and SkyATP?

@2uru+1oUQMdzY Come to Cisco. We had layoffs in Fall 2022, Feb 2023, July-Aug 2023 and another one started yesterday to keep Juniper company. Across the board, mobility wiped out in research and business, security dealt major two blows already this year.

Two networking “giants” buckling under market pressure. Juniper does not surprise me TBH ( there are reasons why I quit and moved to Cisco ) but Cisco just does not make any sense after their record breaking quarters. If this is a trend to come in networking then start updating your CVS and your coding skills. Hard days and years ahead for legacy stuff.

It would be more understandable if the company had done this 6 months ago, when everybody's (and I mean every company in the industry except Nvidia, but we all know their time will inevitably come) orders tanked some in the entire market. Now it seems we are in an upswing again after all the inflated pandemic orders are getting delivered.

It would be tragic to lose talent now and then have to urgently re-hire to accommodate growth with lesser yet immediately available talent again.

I wasn't impacted, but I didn't like the way it went down, and I shall start looking elsewhere. It would cost me 66% of my options because I just joined a year ago, but with this approach I doubt the company is headed in the right direction. The company is way too large and the people way too engaged to try the stealthy, hush-hush approach this was done.

I knew there were "organizational consultants" rummaging around, who are formulaic id--ts with no concept of strategic priorities to adopt to evolving market needs. It reflects very poorly on upper management when they rely on that as a tool.

I have little doubt the people I know (who were let go) will easily find a home elsewhere quickly, because several are stellar professionals... I wish everybody the very best.

  1. I've heard everything from 5-15%, but somewhere around 10% seems to be most accurate for my division.
  2. I'm assuming company wide
  3. Probably
