Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Job listing for my position

While searching for a new job, LinkedIn recommended my position that has “unfortunately been eliminated from the company”. I’d be a top applicant! I saw the position I was told I’d be a great candidate to be promoted to, too.

My salary was within the pay range listed. My performance reviews were great. How does it even make sense? Wouldn’t it have been cheaper for them to keep me than pay me severance and hire somebody else?

I’m (mostly) fine with the layoff, but this just didn’t make any sense.

Just move on. It’s not a company I want to work for anymore. It’s time to let go and find an organization that will actually appreciate you.

You people seem to think that there was some amount of sense that went into this layoff... CVS health has no idea what it is doing ANYWHERE.

No, I worked remotely and the position was also listed as remote.

Was the job posting in a different location?

I am more and more convinced this was salary driven. I have had numerous colleagues share with me sub pare performance of those that took over my work. Just remember they will get what they pay for. Lower pay will lead to lower performers.. I have chose to move on. Aetna is cutting back, which means less opportunities to move forward. I want to be with a company that is growing. Growth equals greater opportunities for success and promotion. There is a reason the rear view mirror is smaller than the windshield. Focus on the forward view, not on what is behind you. Best of luck!

I've had two consulting companies reach out to me for my old job. No way am I going to lose my severance for a contracting position that I just got canned from. I'm sure that CVS Lawyers looked over the reduction in force list very carefully. Good luck!

if you think your layoff was against applicable employment laws in your area, it maybe worth contacting an attorney.

How would I do that? Assuming if I’m going to, I shouldn’t sign the severance?

you could look into wrongful termination.
