Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Workday updates

  • Broadcom will reach out to us based on our info in Workday and it could be by personal email, work email or phone call.
  • Payroll info will be migrated to BC at close, therefore our last VMware paycheck will be 10/13. People on monthly payroll will not receive any further pay checks from VMware.
  • Broadcom does not allow separate bank accounts for bonus payments.

They need outside contact email in case of issues with the transfer too. Even if you're being kept, we've heard they are migrating us to Gsuite almost immediately. We won't have managed machines, or access to documentation to access our new accounts. They have to send that info somewhere.

But that aside, it's also good practice for you to receive all communications regarding employment status to a personal email you control so it doesn't say get deleted after 18 months, or if you do get let go, you no longer have access to said documentation for legal purposes.

I changed my workday contact information to Kim Hock Un’s address, does that mean he gets laid off?

Yes, everyone knew that. It's been discussed many times.

Broadcom does not allow separate bank accounts for bonus payments.

This is standard practice that only impacts the 0.0001% of employees who want paychecks to one bank account and bonuses to another. There are already discussions on Slack on how to bypass this. Non-issue.

Payroll info will be migrated to BC at close, therefore our last VMware paycheck will be 10/13. People on monthly payroll will not receive any further pay checks from VMware.

Most of this wasn't in the email, nor on Source, nor in Slack. Is this a thing where we spread rumors by having most of it be true then add some fake news?

Your "therefore" is a weird understanding of something basic. That's a large assumption about the paycheck that really doesn't make sense. Seriously, how can you get paid by Broadcom for work you did at VMware, especially if you aren't getting a job offer from Broadcom? They're going to add you to their payroll as an employee for 1 hour, write you a check, then terminate you? Come on man.

The email literally began with "VMWARE CONFIDENTIAL". So your reading comprehension is consistent.

The deadline to update the details is 13th (Friday).

So on 16th (Monday) we all would receive email from Broadcom regarding our employment status.

I wanna see it, being it on. Can't wait anymore. Just waiting to collect bizOps RSU & severance.

Why add more pressure?

If you’re going to copy an internal confidential email to the world at least have the decency to get the content, and context, correct.

You incorrectly summarized an email that was literally sent to every employee.

Why did you do that?

The last VMware paycheck is not going to be 10/13. Critical thinking is not your forte is it?

Thank you for telling us what everyone who still works at VMware already knows. What would we do without your insight?
