Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Side gigs

I see lots of posts on this site hating people with side gigs. It is very much legal in California as long as it does not interfere with your day job and you are not working for the competition. Last time I checked Q was not in the RE or RE related business.

Stop being so bitter and start developing passive income streams. If you can't, stop hating on people with one.

Q is supposed to be a cutting edge company. To maintain that status, employees are supposed to work around the clock to achieve the required innovation. Having a side gig just means the employee is not giving his all. No wonders (nit the only raison ) why we are being outcompeted by all companies (fruit, mtk...). I pretty sure u will not find this in FAANG companies.

Side gigs are all fine until there is conflict of interest. RE agent provides lower commission to manager and the manager looks the other way when RE agent managee spends working hours on weekdays with house showing. Even worse is when manager gives a higher rating to their managee because they hooked up the manager with a sweet RE deal.

This is corruption.
