Thread regarding VMware layoffs

When will they announce the layoff list? Oct 13th or 31st?

For the people who BC wants to retain, they should receive an offer before mid October.

For the people who BC wants to layoff, I guess BC will not let them know until the very last day.

If this is true, people who don’t hear anything by mid October should assume they will be on the layoff list?

Teams are starting to be told their fate this week, formal communication aside.

I have a typo in my Workday contact information, I've since corrected. Should I wait, or try and contact Mr. Hock now? I've been purchasing in bulk as a backup plan, but still suffer non-stop anxiety induced diarrhea, have been hydrating as a result, which is now causing a whole new set of issues. I can't seem to catch a break :(

Considering that they want all employees to update their contact information by the 13th, there is a good chance that it is the following week when comms start coming. We'll see.

I leave some milk and cookies out every night so if Hock visits he will be pleased.

Yes. Call Tan directly. He's expecting calls from people just like you. He wants to put your troubles at ease.

"Employees in 59 out of the 60 countries can ignore this post, since it is only about the US"

I'm pretty sure BC can make an offer of retention before close.

unfortunately the 20 days between Oct 10-30 is going to be tense for everyone, no way >around that.

I would say Oct 10 -19 is going to be intense due to the notification period, after everyone knows it's going to transition into a "weird" last 10 days when you learn who has been kicked off and who has be retained.

I can't imagine them meeting with thousands of people at notification time, it's going to be an email. Then 15 min. HR meeting only at off boarding on Oct 30.

Will there be a meeting request from Broadcom HR ? OR the offer letter is just an email sent to previous company email address

The end of waiting is near. You may not like the outcome, but you will have closure and can move on to a better job someplace else in 2024. Good lick to all!

It’s a gossip columnist trying to get some click bait article based on random rants from this site

Refer to the slide that was recently shared on the unofficial Broadcom acquisition channel in Slack. Info is all there.

Dont be too happy if you get retained. BC will su-k out every ounce of your blood and make our life miserable like he-l. He isnt Hock for no reason.

“Betsy went over all this in a rare moment of full transparency during the last townhall. Why is this even a question?”

What exactly did she say? I was on the call, but don’t recall.

I’m unclear on this, also. So offer letters will start going out in “mid-October”? Is that accurate? And what is “mid-October” - the 10th, 15th (Sunday), 16th (Monday), etc?

And can one infer that the longer one goes without receiving an offer letter, the greater the likelihood that they will be laid off on 10/30-11/1?

@wpc+1oRg0OKX I wasn't invited to the said townhall. Can you please share the information regarding when we (US employee) will know the layoff notice?

After Oct 10 it's a possibility to be notified, unlikely before that, unfortunately the 20 days between Oct 10-30 is going to be tense for everyone, no way around that.

In US, yes. You will get offer letter mid-late October, and will get termination letter day 1 after the closing date.
