What is the correlation between being PowerPoint jockey and getting laid off ?
Most of my team higher-ups spend so much time with PowerPoint and Excel that they don't have time to do any technical work. That said I don't know if they really don't have time time to do technical work or just hide behind PowerPoint and Excel.

OP here .... I don't interact with VPs. I am taking about senior staff and manager in my team.
You need some truth. Modem SW VPs can not make it now. Enough of fooling around with off cycle retention bonus every year, even multiple times a year. Team sizes increased 3 fold in last 3 years.
No matter what... no work!!
Right now everything it PowerPoint as VP fight to keep as many of their people as possible. Make no mistake, right now there are battles raging as VPs try to keep as much of their teams as possible together. Cost analyses, forecasts, all of these spreadsheets are needed to make their points.
PowerPoints with fake and inaccurate data 😩
