Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

I don't buy it

I don't buy that managers don't know who's affected this close to layoffs. If you don't want to or can't share, then just say so, that's perfectly understandable. But I truly wish some of you would stop telling us something we all know is not true - that you don't know anything yet.

A lot of low level managers might not know because they’re probably affected… a lot of director level people might not know for the same reason. I’ve heard people who signed NDAs might know some info like the date, but could still also be affected.

This is going to be bigger than the top folks are letting on and what every “loyal” employee is expecting.

It also might come in waves so one date someone heard could just be for a specific org…

Either way, hope folks have been applying to other jobs

I used to be a people leader and managers don’t know. But the Managing Directors know. I had one employee laid off in the past and I did not know until the day of layoff.

However it was a low performing employee so it was not a huge surprise.

IC here - I highly doubt managers know. Based on the 2019 layoffs, directors probably don't know either. At that time in our org the SVP level and maybe one VP knew ahead of time and that's it.

Since then Schwab has become much less transparent with people leaders, not more, so I wouldn't be surprised if even fewer people were in the know this time around.
