There are no coincidences, only the illusion of coincidences.

Lawler leaving is definitely related. He was and still is under investigation. Many others have mentioned the highly suspect relationship with his former chief of staff (whom he brought over from SandRidge). He and is merry band participated in numerous code of conduct violations. Many reported issues to Open Talk. I hope they continue to investigate his relationships with vendors and dig into the asset sales since he came to BPX.

I expect soon we will see him join up with his merry band over at INOES Energy where they can again wreak havoc on a company and their employees.

Chief of Staff is a confidant and advisor to the CEO. The work closely together...wink wink.
Layman's term: It is an affinity hire position for somebody you want to have close relations with but disguise it as a working relationship.

Surely it has nothing to do with the former “chief of staff” who was 100% unqualified for her job…..

See the thing is, we will not know if it's related or not, but it'll be assumed that it is. And maybe more will leave - and it'll be the same thing. Which will make morale even worse and faith in the company / leadership even lower. And with the revelations about Bernard promoting women he had relationships with, he's nuked the entire female leadership population, and tainted the entire LT. The arrogant POS took down the entire company's leadership with him. Just praying that whoever inherits this mess goes back to the basics of identifying and promoting people that actually know wtf they're doing, not just good at brown nosing PR and blabbering corporate nonsense under yammer posts.

Oh but he’s not retiring, he’s leaving for “another opportunity.”

If DL departure is truly unrelated to Bertard's departure and the ensuing probe of se-ual improprieties, then DL has chosen absolutely most unfortunate time to retire, no?

Related. After the Looney Tunes scandal they were going to probe into relationships of executives. Opportunity for DL to bow out gracefully instead of being fired for code of conduct violation. Wouldn't be surprised if more announcements in the near future.
