People with over a decade at 2U were let go while somebody who joined this year is still here. So much for experience and loyalty meaning something.

Which edX programs provide upward mobility for a high percentage of consumers?
Pretty sure the other companies in this space are actively rooting against 2U. The company’s reputation is trash. That becomes clear once you get distance from the sheen that’s dressing up how bad things really are, so workers stay productive.
Why buy 2U now instead of waiting for bankruptcy and the buying the few remaining valuable pieces of it later, for a discount? Not a rhetorical question, I’m not a finance guy, so if there’s an answer I’d be fascinated to hear it
Would have to imagine 2U gets acquired in the near future whether by another company or PE. Market cap is at $200M so call it a $1.5B acquisition including stock premium and paying off the debt. With Coursera being a $2B market cap company and 2U producing double their revenue that could be attractive to someone.
Who knows though all I do know is sticking with one plan for more than 6 months would be a nice change.
Pessimistic Speculation!? Ha!!
Get your head out of the sand! These layoffs that are occurring, bi-annually, Are Not because 2u is healthy!
2u is not healthy - in any way/shape/ form!
These layoffs are the means by which this company can afford to keep the lights on a little longer.
Robbing Peter to pay Paul.
And, the upper leadership are absolutely not reducing their salaries to $upport the financial free fall. Their biggest brain child plan seems to be to artificially infuse the stock market with worthless stocks that were set aside for this very point in time.
So yes, we are headed towards bankruptcy, and for the future sets of layoffs until that point, what will severance look like?! Not good!
How do you know there will be no severance in the next round?
It’s a pessimistic speculation. They are implying the company is going bankrupt and will be unable to afford severance. Another layoff is probable, bankruptcy is not.
@ggm+1oQ1WLFj why wouldn't there be severance at the next one?
They are way cheaper than the old timers. And tons of old timers survived. You’re lucky to get laid off now. There won’t be severance at the next one.
