India Restructuring - QIPL massive cut

Finished a meeting VP level

QCOM has recognized inefficiency of QIPL. Previous attempts over years was to maintain 4 to 1 ratio.

All the way to CTO, we recognized that QIPL staff fundamentally require significant management oversight, are inefficient, and in the cases of some projects cause more pain.

There will be a BIG haircut in India. 30%.

I am Indian and thats what surprises me about some of my people, not saying because I think I am better than others. It’s their life and I could care less. I don’t understand how some one be ignorant not to practice what they preach.

I hang out with so many people from different countries and cultures and I have seen some are just as superstitious/ignorant. I don’t think it’s a cultural issue but more to do with upbringing. If you accept things at face value, and never question. Yeah you going to be d-mb af

Also sad to but real scientific temper is missing in Indian engineers. They will work on state of the art but succumb to superstition and blind beliefs when it comes to personal life. It eventually rubs off on professional life when everyone is like that. These engineers only study “engineering” to get good grades and for well paying job but never absorb the essence of science, what it actually stands for, scientific temper is a forgotten thing.

About personal vs professional. Seen team members hold “meetings” to deliberate over what presents to give if the lead has invited them over for kids birthdays etc. In southern parts especially everyone is supposed to show “reverence” to the big g-ns and it is very provincial. The local contacts and influence is brought to bear for getting some of the hr and office real estate matters done. In northern areas this all holds true but with liberal sprinkling of ham handedness.

I heard in most India offices of all the major multinational companies following is provided. Transportation by bus, breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee with fresh snacks and dinner if you work late. People spend significant chunks of time in cafeteria for every time. Overall efficiency might be lower. The line between the personal and the professional is almost always blurred in interpersonal relationships. Religious/cultural festivities play out in the office environment that you don’t expect to see over here. It is hard to have a mindset of going to the office strictly to work and cultivate professional relationships and maybe a few good friendships. It gets cluttered with the personal, cultural, religious and the politics stuff. It does breed inefficiencies.

It is true there is restructuring planned foe QIPL because there are issues that are just not getting addressed. Adequate training is an ongoing problem. Nepotism and favoritism is a really large problem because most of the work is being completed by a few people, while others sit back, do nothing, attend meetings, and leave early.

Dude, when you post this, it’s 2:00-3:00 AM in India, and you are talking about a meeting which decides QIPL’s fate but without any executives from India participating? Man, my dog makes better lies…

Imagine having a one on one meeting with the ceo and posting this info right away in a public forum. I doubt someone would do it.
