Question on Office Attendence for SYM Folks

For those who went through the acquisition of Symantec and were near enough to a Broadcom office; was there the expectation of attending the office right after the close or were you given any grace period? I have read they have a 50 mile policy. If you were inside that radius, did they tell you that you must come to the office starting the first day, week, or were you given a longer period of time if you needed to get things taken care of such as child care?

There was a Broadcom office in the same office park for us so they had us move over like within the first week. But, we were already in a Symantec office (they just didn’t buy all of the business) so we had to move. I am assuming by the wording of your question that you aren’t tied to a VMware office currently. My best guess is that they will give you a report date as you will have to get a badge, laptop etc. They may let you stay remote, unless other people from VMware are also posted there. Also, they may not make a big deal about it if you are in a key role they want to retain.

Field sales doesn’t have to be in an office, although you can visit them for customer meetings, team meetings etc. They tried to push them into an office at the beginning but the entire point of the role is customer interaction.

Just claim you have long covid and HR will let you work from home. Lots of people are doing it.
