Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Any thoughts on what Broadcom will do with Tanzu Labs considering their client contracts/engagements? Do you think we are safe because of those?

worthless Agile meetings that never accomplished anything.

Lord yes. I’m shocked how long this “practice” has continued. Utter waste of time and resources. Also demoralizing on top of it all.

Let’s fly people from all over into a room and spend 1/2 the day coming up with a mission statement that kisses the a-s of whoever is the highest ranking person in the meeting.

The captain is certainly asleep at the wheel.

I hope Hock gets invited to see this first hand so he can bïtch slap everyone in the room and the fire their pathetic pompous aśses.

CLAP!

Tanzu is safe. Hock said so.

“ Tanzu is a central part of VMware’s software portfolio and its multi-cloud strategy, and will remain that way after Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware closes.”

Say what you want about him, but he doesn’t lie.

That doesn’t mean there will be no layoffs, and that adults will be put in charge, just that it isn’t going anywhere soon.

In the context of the article, he knows the US govt has deep pockets and he wants to transfer that wealth to himself.

The only people who think Tanzu is special are Tanzu people. Just look at the hiring practices. Edward promotes his non-experienced, kiss-butt buddies. The Tanzu engineers aren't smart so they stop engineering and spend their days going to a lot of worthless Agile meetings that never accomplished anything. They thought they were safe forever. No one ever is...

Look Ma, we are more than a virtualization company!

Not.

Tanzu is toast. It is what it is. Only the mega profitable survive, you know, because this is a business and should be run like one.

Broadcom bought VMW to make more money. Tanzu never made any money.
It's not a hard equation.
Tanzu has been a tu-d since before it was Tanzu, then it got even worse with the pivotal and heptio acquisitions.

but they didn't buy VMware to lay off 38k employees people!

No, they didn’t.

They bought it to layoff 19K employees.

Man these forums are such nonsense. I've yet to see one division from VMware that won't be laying off everyone according to the comments on here. Yes Broadcom is all about the bottom line based on previous scenarios like this, but they didn't buy VMware to lay off 38k employees people!

I hope Tanzu is part of their future. Once you wrap your head around some of the software they do, it's pretty amazing stuff.

Let’s see, our current genius CEO is responsible for it being at the top of the slide deck.

Enough said.

Stupid people do stupid things.

“At the top of every slide” , at the bottom of revenue in the company.

Tanzpoo!

The play is to sell off or close. Prob a big whack of headcount right away.

Tanzu profits divided by 70 billion is zero for all practical purposes.

But we do X… but this… but that.

Speak to the hand.

No money there, so bye bye.

But… but…

Shhh, there there. It will be over soon.

Everybody keeps saying that Tanzu will be 86ed. How does that align with the fact that it has been at the top of every slide for the past year and a half? What is the play there if it is really in danger?

Contracts can certainly be rewriten and then outsourced. I would prepare for the worst case and have backup plans in place.

Their history includes questionable acquisitions, extensive outsourcing, and a willingness to incur penalties rather than adhere to regulations. Anything is possible in their case.
