I’ve been in SE for years and it’s never been this bad. What Directors and VPs actually do is completely foreign to us - we interact with and engage hundreds of students a day, and we make a third of their salary. SE has a direct impact on the company’s value - the people above us just seem to stroke their chins and nod their heads while we do all of the work. I’m sick of it. It’s tiring.
I would encourage everyone to update their resumes. Despite what some people say on these threads, working in SE DOES give you skills to pivot into other professions. We’ve developed essential sales and customer relationship responsibilities - there are plenty of places that would hire you. Don’t let the negativity about your roles or this company get you down. You bring a lot of value to a work force.
