Underperforming BU will be axed

There are tons of business units that are not making any money. AFAIK, most customer facing service units with cloud or SaaS components will be eliminated as a part of portfolio reset. This will include the VP and everybody under them.

If you are in such a unit it is better to start looking now rather than wait for the layoff announcements.

Believe it or not. These underperforming BU's are "safer" than most people would imagine. Why? The VP or SVP who is leading an underperforming BU always has an excuse and also will provide a rosy outlook to CEO/CFO.

He/She will say, "oh, right now we have probs due to . Also, I am looking for some staff augmentation so that we can reach out to more potential customers. With these initiatives, we should be able to achieve 70% of sales goals in 4Q24, and so on with a 30% profitability by 4Q27 and so on..."

The QCT folks will be asked to reduce by a few more percentage points so that the "new initiative" will be funded. So, that is how it goes...you now know the rest of the story.

In fact, there are some in ESG who consistently get huge budget for "propagating technology". We see how that went - check the ROI for carriers on all the millimeter wave deployments.

In principle, the smart thing you do is that you take the money and run before the theft is discovered.
