Heard qcom only cutting engineers in this lay off. Will this really save money with so many status collectors whom has much higher salary still around?

I sat in many meetings with execs and engineers excited about developing AI. Could no one see that they were planning their own demise? No longer need lower level engineers. Do the math.
You can't even spell "only" correctly. You should be the first to go.
@1giz+1oMKGByF the ones below staff are mostly useless. High number of lower salary deadweight is still extra cost.

There are so many expensive dead weights above staff engineers who are glorified power point jockeys.
Far too long the focus has been on principal and above losing real talent in the process. Engineers below principal are being looked closely...it's pretty easy to tell who is getting sh-t done. Doesn't take more than 30 min. Review 2 performance reviews and 3rd party and you have the picture. nothing to do with status collector or not
Status collectors know where the bodies are buried and where they will bury you in this layoff.
It’s very simple to cut the engineers in high cost regions and replace them with low cost regions. But it’s tough to find good experienced engineers/managers who know how to manage. The so called “status collectors” get the work done. So either you guys man up and understand the top management thinking or be ready to get sla-ghtered if in the US! Eventually these “status collectors” choose whom to keep or whom to chop. So be nice and report your statuses.
Qualcomm has been taken over by status collectors ... like parasites take over the host and make it weak. It is only downhill from now.
No, some directors and sr directors located at Europe and APAC are also impacted, and their last days are the end of September.
Senior Engg in India are a big part of the reason Qualcomm is a mess.
Staff in US and Senior Engg in India are the backbone of Q.
