Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Hit 'em where it hurts, their wallet! Skip the engagement survey.

While everyone is being pushed to fill out the employee engagement survey, I stumbled across this piece of information in the annual proxy statements that UP publishes.
In 2022 the CEO was paid $220,000 out of a possible $440,000 for their non-formulaic bonus (50% payout). Part of that came from hitting the target of 80% participation in the employee survey but missing other targets. In 2019 it was a similar story but paid at only 45%. So, if you want to stick em where it hurts just don't fill out the survey. If enough people don't then they will miss the engagement target and likely get an even smaller bonus. And in that case, you can still see the impact whether you are let go or not since the proxy statements are public info.

2022
The Company exceeded its goal of 80% participation in the employee engagement survey with an 88% participation rate.

2021
The Company exceeded its goal of 75% participation in the employee engagement survey with an 80% participation rate.

Employee engagement surveys are a waste of time. I think the senior management likes to read them because they find joy in pulling everyone's strings like we are their own little personal marionette puppets. Skip the survey and quiet quit instead.

Well the executives will only get $200,000-$400,000 for you filling out the survey it’s not that big a deal! LOL!

But I’m getting a rib steak if I fill it out, and the rest of the shop follows suit. I can tell them what I think and I get a steak. This is a tough economy what with the bidenomics going on. I haven't had a rib steak in ages!

If you dont believe that they get a bonus for employee engagement just hold out for a while. They will start following you, reminding you, begging and intimidating you. Just hold out and see.

That explains why they have the managers stalk employees and force them to take the “anonymous and voluntary” survey.

I wish I could upvote this post more. That engagement survey percentage is just something to brag about to analysts on earnings calls even if the company gets bashed in the survey. If you think they dished out paid sick days because people asked for it in the survey, you are living in a fantasy land.
