i got laid off tonight, i was almost there a year. why have a job fair and hire people just to let them go without any kind of warning. such a slap in the face.

The Warn Act is for when either 500+ people are laid off and/or 50-499 people comprising 1/3 of the workers at a facility. The number of layoffs, while substantial, was less than the required 1/3.
They must be calling it something other than a layoff because it’s not listed under
The Warn Act
If your thier less then two years they will be letting you go.
Sorry that you was so poorly treated. Clearly the need to address the 2025 debt repayment is behind the ruthless termination of employees which might be a prerequisite to obtaining the required refinancing. Issuing new stocks should be considered instead of relying solely on terminations. CS got itself into a right mess when it used leverage to acquire Arris and now employees are paying the price for management's mistake. Best wishes in finding a new position.
