Tier and Job Grade

Did anyone else feel they were in the wrong tier and or job grade? After 30 plus years tier1 and low job grade seems crazy (never even knew it existed or what it meant until this lay off severance package situation). Feels like missing out on 10 more weeks of pay.

Yeah I know. I’ve had many people (including “quietly” other directors and managers) now tell me my new manager (leadership) failed me, they had no idea of what I did or things I was involved with although it is all clearly stated in reviews. I knew my job title should have been changed but it was just blown off every time it came up. But as mention earlier I never knew about a job grade or tier, never knew it would create this kind of problem. Now after 30 plus years I just feel cheated on top of depressed.

Job grade is tied to your job code and title and jobs leveled by compensation across the enterprise. The severance benefit of number of weeks and outplacement is tied to tiers (lower job grades are at lower severance benefit tiers and higher job grades tied to higher tiers). You are in the job code for your last job change and compensated accordingly. Many don’t know or forgot their job grade until now.
