Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Are we going back to MTMs?

First signing reported to the OOM, now signing reports to the SMM. There is already extreme overlap between all of the leadership roles at Macys. Are we going to just go back to MTMs? Makes the most sense to me. There was nothing wrong with it to begin with. Give the operational functions that aren’t receiving or fulfillment to the MBA. They’re just glorified ASTS at this point.

If you are a SMM in a store without an OOM, then you really are still an MTM. I have all of the same responsibilities that I did when I was a MTM and now I have to cover EIC shifts and work nights as well. I am going to retire next year and it will be interesting to see which of the younger managers who call out like colleagues we will be promoting into my job. When you treat your people like they are replaceable, they will act like their employer is replaceable as well.

Why do people always disparage MBAs? In our store the MBA does everything and picks up the others' slack. Our MBA isn't even in the office half the time and the part time AST does all that stuff. If your MBA is bad, that's on your store manager.

Everything in my store is falling apart operationally speaking. Nothing is being repaired( air conditioning) leaks in the roof, you name it ,its just like they've given up. The cleanliness of the store is also a big problem but maybe if we hired competent people who spoke English they could understand how to do their job.

I thought the SMM would eventually be eliminated and CXM would adopt the majority of Merchandising responsibilities. The problem is the CXMs in stores are ill equipped and not trained to do anything other than staff and answer teatro all day, sadly.
