I heard from the VPS townhall, that broadcom will be keeping people based on their GitHub commits? Do you think that's a good metric?

Fantastic metric!
Much accuracy, such meaning!
Pretty d-mb, considering the core vsphere product is in perforce not gitlab
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. BC will retain based on business unit, i.e. whether the project is in line with their revenue goals, that's all there is to it.
Gitlab not GitHub
Hooray, the VC PE will finally be shown the door, given they've never made a single commit of anything.
Github or Gitlab (internal vmware)?
A single metric to base almost any decision on is something easily skewed and/or manipulated.
Short answer, no.
