The TJ Maxx store in St. Paul's Midway is closing its doors next month.

The closure is confirmed by a sign on the store's front doors, which says that its final day in business will be Sunday, Oct. 8.

No reason is provided for the closure. Bring Me The News has reached out to TJ Maxx for comment.

The closure comes almost ten years to the day the off-price clothing retail chain opened the Midway store on Oct. 13, 2013, with the Pioneer Press reporting at the time the location would employee 75 people.

Its closure marks a complete exit from St. Paul from TJ Maxx, which relocated its store at the Sun Ray Shopping Center on Old Hudson Road to Woodbury last year.

The Midway area also used to be home to St. Paul's only Walmart, which closed its doors in September 2019.

The wider area meanwhile is still pending a long-awaited – and long-delayed – regeneration led partly by Bill McGuire, the owner of Minnesota United. It will eventually see commercial and office buildings, a public park and plaza built in the area around Allianz Field stadium.
