My question is… will we only see layoffs in HR, or will we see them in the teams that just lost staff too? So much shuffling makes me wonder if they moved people, assessing the duplications, and then more layoffs.

HR is a hot mess! Anyone hired as the chosen “different people” to replace the “unimportant” people filling “unimportant” jobs and doing “unimportant” tasks will regret their decision in the first month! I guarantee it! They will be trying to piece together the mess they inherit and the “unimportant” people thankfully won’t be there with the answers or a broom and mop to help them clean up! One should ask Laurie, the “master” of HR why there were so many “unimportant” roles in the first place and whether she or other leaders actually know the talent they pushed out the door? They don’t know the talent they have (had) or what they really need for the future! Keep tossing your word salad, Laurie, et al!

I don't even think Laurie knows what she was answering in that townhall. Her response from the stage was that people are being eliminated because their jobs or task isn't "important" enough -- her word. And the need to demonstrate more value with partners when managing people. The solution is to hire different people in HR that can help operationalize these needs. Yet, she was patting everyone on the back for how the layoffs were handled because they offered placement assistance prior to the date of official severance...

She also spoke about how the goal was to be more data driven. What data are we talking about, Laurie? Like, the company never had a good idea about the number of people it had employed? Word salad, and not much substance.

Re: Why not just do it now? Making people worry possibly unnecessarily for a month is not “with heart”

Because they need to keep them on until all the bugs are fixed in colleague zone and workday (there are a LOT)

More WARN notices for 2024 in FL and CT

HR is just executing what business leaders are telling them to do with cutting costs through layoffs. Not a fun job. Cost cutting is across the enterprise and many functions affected. More to come, unfortunately…

I hate to see anyone lose their job, but there is a bit of cosmic justice seeing HR being forced to eat their own cooking.

AND… as we have been saying. Layoffs were not done after August. Some WARN notices have layoffs listed into 2024. Before you ask, look up FL. Pleas take care and prayers for all.

There is no heart. Perhaps the selection of the color black used for the rebranding was a forewarning.
