Ditching oil in favor of renewables (which will NEVER achieve liftoff, will FOREVER require government subsidies, and will force a growing percentage of the electorate and major corporations permanently onto the public dole), social engineering in violation of the Equal Protection Clause, implosions over pretend scandals like whether the CEO disclosed enough of his prior relationships with colleagues (SERIOUSLY? Was this really the best person for the job? It's like the candidates that American political parties excrete!), how to squeeze the bottom line to pay more dividends (AFTER they sold off the crown jewels to buy something to get them more "likes"), and on and on. Meanwhile, history moves on, determined by economic competition and political struggle, left to those in control of the hydrocarbon and the atom. When the chips are down, when the stakes are highest, the use or threat to use oil and arms will be all that matter. BP and Shell, and to a lesser extent the West, are ceding the future to Saudi Arabia and Russia to decide. And they don't seem to care.
If you want more social equality, more opportunity for women, higher dividends, you better stop handing the future to these socially backward kleptocrats.
