Our current remote employee whose office was just recently closed. Been with the company for over 10 years and looking for a change within the company. I applied for three positions and was turned down for all three. (Overqualified) I know FB has this H*ardon for return to office. I wonder if this is going to affect people's promotability who are stuck being remote

@1fhi+1oD5PXAq Yes there are other employers and allowed to change jobs. There are competitors, clients or different career. Quite a few started here right after college. Not a lot want to change this with starting over in their 40s, 50s and some 60s. The business units are different than IT jobs. They are very specialized on a particular software. How many competitors run a Unisys/IBM mainframe? How long before all clients have to be off the software that will be sunsetted if no one to support? Losing all these SMEs will be detrimental. The poster has every right to be scared. We need to support each other and know the true enemy.
well wow on the flag.... for fact you can only get to a certain level remote.
Yeah I'll never understand the "stuck" feeling. Only person stopping you is you! Lots of other companies looking for remote folks, you can make it happen.
You are not stuck. You are allowed to for a different employer.
Well, they were honest about one thing. They want you to train your replacement. They are hoping that you will train someone, get frustrated and then quit. My suggestion is to locate another position with another company if possible. I realize that you have time with the company, but so have so many others. And they have left for greener pastures. Many have gotten pay raises, less work and a better working environment. They want cheap and as they will soon find out, they will get what they pay for.
If you are remote, your chance of promotion is 0%. I was told this earlier this year. They won't even have a conversation with you about it.
With the First Data firing squad is in charge, remote work is dead.
In my meeting when I was asked to move to NJ, I asked if I stayed remote (some were allowed) did I have any future for promotions or other jobs within the company. I was told “highly unlikely”. Unless you work in one of the 6 COEs, you have no future at Fiserv.
Or there is a flag next to your name - do not hire. I know this exists - former Fiserv HR partner
