There is a major focus on recrews again as Vena wants to reduce TE&Y. Follow all rules to the T and make sure your locomotive consist is fully compliant before departure. Him laying off mechanical employees does not fall burden on you or your career. If it takes 6 hours to get someone to come fix something or to get a new lead unit, then so be it. Let them recrew the train.

If you are called as a deadhead, called against a power move, called against a work train symbol, etc. and then used to recrew a train, document it and have your local chairman document it with the General Chairman. Don't let management hide the recrews.

Don't give the company an inch on legitimate mechanical defects or creative solutions used to hide recrews.

If you don't get what you need from your "foamer" local chairman, start going higher until you get an answer. They represent you, not the railroad. My local su-ks and when they didn'wt help, I went up the chain until I got to Cleveland. I did get the resolution I wanted after a little extra leg work. It should not be that way but unfortunately sometimes you have to remind people why you pay union dues. If you upset someone in the process then oh well, thats on them for not doing the job they were elected for.

My Chairman, is a UP guy and wears the UP cap and jacket all around the place and and at home to bed with his wife. He loves the UP so much he listens to the dispatcher at home on a pack set on his head board of his bed and plays with train sets that are UP.

My BLE local chairman is a company man. So who do I notify? He’s a 11 and 4 disciple proverbs work 7 days a week and be happy you have a job kinda guy. Do I notify the UTU local chairman they at least seem to get their guys paid for getting the shaft.
