and unlimited pto for many people as well. i agree with you by the way - if c-suite is saying it's all in broadcom's hands now and they will decide without your managers, why put in any effort until you know?
it is crazy that they basically say - you'll hear in a month if your life is wrecked, and we cannot do anything about it nor your manager. just some impersonal bean counter filtering lists. good luck!
betsy comes back from her US Open front row seat on a private plane to a company meeting, dancing out on stage, thrilled with her upcoming $30M payout. bs
pretty much what happened at CA once things move forward. people we in absentia, as they should be focused on what matters most. good luck all. i hope everyone lands somewhere, and remember bad cr-p usually opens up new opportunities...
ok enid if the positive vibe...
Morale will
Remain low until all the day one layoffs are cleared out of the company.
Then you’ll have transition people hanging around helping with the onboarding of VMware into a Broadcom for 6-9-12 months of more.
Then after the transition people are gone there will probably be multiple residual layoffs of “stays” as Broadcom fine tunes and optimizes the groups against their financial goals. In the same regard there may also be day-1 layoffs who have an opportunity to come back as full time employees as needs and requirements are discovered.
The entire demolition and onboarding of Vmware will probably take a solid 2-4 years before it all shakes out with varying degrees of “stability” along the way depending on how you fit in.
A complication that didn’t exist for previous acquisitions will be the return-to-office drama. I’m assuming Broadcom will be looking to consolidate people into Broadcom or Vmware offices where they can but I’m also assuming that some stays who previously had an office will become full time WFH due to real estate optimizations and office closures. Some stays who had full time WFH may be unlucky to live near a Broadcom office and be asked to attend.
Brace yourselves! It’s gonna get rocky !
we are fast and furious every day working with customers no chance to do anything but flat out, if your someone who can slow to a halt or no one notices your not doing anything, well do not be surprised on the 30th
I already shut down my laptop yesterday after the meeting. Havent got a ping yet on slack on my phone from anyone yet. May be many shut down already too. In case i get a ping my answer is down with covid.
I think Betsy's remark was the truest in that things will slow down. I don't know how some leaders can keep saying "business as usual". This is far from usual. Yes, we should stay professional and do what we can but it makes zero sense to make decisions that are more than 2-3 weeks out. People will be gone, the strategy will change and as a PM, why should I release features right now when the team supporting them may not even be here (including myself) in 1 month?
Sad thing is, there are tons of people at VMware who actually think they are working hard, but are in fact spinning their wheels. They do nothing but create confusion and mistakes for others to clean up. It’s like working with a doge meme.
Worse still are our c-suite scammers.
That’s the silliest thing we could do. BC will look at our Q3 results and then make a long-term decision.
You have no idea if yours will exist or not.
I stopped a long time ago, I do the bare minimum to keep my job and get my paycheck until I get severance ;)
