Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Asked to improve files while being laid off

Boss asked me to improve files and “think of what would help someone taking over the role” while I’m being laid off.

No thanks boss. I showed up with and had zero work instructions and I built everything out from scratch. Not working for your benefit anymore. Not doing anything other than training. Haven’t even been told who I’m training yet.

That would absolutely not happen on my watch . If they want to train someone or clean up files . Have at it but find another to do it

This is probably not going to be the most popular post, but going to say it anyway. I was affected too. I’m not happy at all, like most of us. Here’s the thing don’t mess up these last days we’re here. That severance is yours. You earned it. Do what you have need to. Complete what is asked of you. No need to go the extra mile. Finish up get a new position and bank the severance. I was laid off one time before due to a division closure. This is exactly what I did. Had another job lined up et all. AND was asked to stay take another position internally. I chose not to moved on and saved up that severance. Moral is, don’t burn that bridge. They may need/want you back, ball will be in your court then. Take the higher ground and you will be rewarded for it. We need to take care of ourselves and let clearer thinking prevail.

Just remember, they want you go to train someone else so CVS can pay them significantly less....its a bunch of bulls**t! Do the bare minimum to avoid burned bridges and I hope you find a much better company and a better role!

Malicious compliance is the way. All you have to do is start it “I’m making progress!” “I need to ask (fill in name) questions to make sure it’s right!”

Do the bare minimum needed to get your severance. You don’t owe them anything. What a cr-ppy position to be in- so sorry.

I am very sorry for what happened and you were part of it. Just remember you will want to use CVS as a reference for your resume, don't burn bridges and leave on a sour note.

The entire smooth transition of your work and your teams to someone they decided to keep while they targeted you to go, is truly the worst thing ever. It's mentally a very hard thing to get through, Keep your eye on the severance. Very sorry

Or, and hear me out here. Malicious compliance - do what they ask, then lock the file on your last day.
