Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Execution was HORRIBLE

Look I get it, we probably needed to trim head count, but holy sh-t the execution of this is something Karen should be ashamed of. Furthermore, wtf is the executive team? Radio silence in the face of all this turmoil speaks volumes.

They should make IDGAF mode as one of those little frames on LinkedIn. 80% of the remaining colleagues in CVS Digital would use it.

The future is AI and Offshoring Staff. That's everyone between the Upper Board and cashiers & Stock people. Visas can be used for store Management and Pharmacy workers. VPs down will gladly take work cheaply outside the developed world.

Our VP does a custom wordle game everyday on Teams. Today the word was "leave". Can you believe that?

Hearing that people read the script and didn’t thank the colleague is disheartening. I was a notifier and had the script to read. It certainly had bullets related to thanking the colleague impacted of their contributions. Also, they were talking points and not a script in the sense that in no way was it communicated that you had to read the points word for word. If your leader did that, you had a terrible leader with no personality and no compassion. I’m truly sorry to read that this happens to people. These were some of the most difficult conversations I’ve ever had and my heart broke for those I was notifying.

Agree execution very flawed. I was hit on the HCB side- script, no thank you- nothing - came as a complete shock. I was a consistent top performer who had been promoted recently. I pushed myself to always go above and beyond. It Was my first lay-off after 24 years doing what I do and highly respected in my field. Silver lining - already landed on my feet and I definitely learned from this mess. Onwards and upwards. Only makes me/us stronger.

I’ve worked at a larger healthcare org in the past, and in comparison the lack of authenticity and charisma from these very high up CVS execs this week has been shocking to me. At my previous company, they’d deliver hard messages truthfully but with a certain polish to the message.

Literally can’t believe some of these VPs are making VP salary and literally reading from poorly-written scripts and clear bulleted lists of talking points. I felt worse today after the quick check in where we were immediately informed chat was turned off and we aren’t allowed to ask questions. They reminded us to use the EAP if we’re stressed and lean on each other. YEAH WE’VE BEEN DOING THAT FOR 3 WEEKS, THANKS. The call was pointless.

Most items I have been working on have been put on hold until after the dust settles. Just searching for other opportunities in the meantime. Oh well…

I've been doing my part to bring productivity down.

Agreed. The loss of productivity lost due due to fear of layoffs cannot be understated. I've had many say that they just cannot perform their duties under these circumstances

I've spent the past few weeks applying to and interviewing for new jobs. I assume many others are in a similar position. The loss of productivity across the entire company probably comes close to offsetting the projected savings in 2024.
