I was laid off last fall. The week before I was let go, my director told me they were glad to have me on the team and they had built the team they wanted—and I was on it. They were telling me this all the while knowing I was about to get let go. The takeaway—it takes a special type of person to lie right to your face while eliminating your job, and TD has them in abundance. Directors who laugh and joke with you, and tell you what a great job you’re doing, will cut you loose in a second.

Italy has 25 employees and Spain 35 .
Office are already closed… all home office
400 Rif are referring to global Q3 plan
Does that mean zero employees remain in Spain and Italy; or did you mean the offices close there and maybe a few/some but not all from Spain and Italy are RIF?
i assume we do not have 400 employees in those two locations alone.
If spread around internal orgs and geography, 400 would be about 6% of staff.
Singapore Office Open and Italy and Italy and Spain Office are closing.
Target RIF 400 people
I was laid off last fall as well. I worked 25+ years in engineering and always had very good reviews. Won lots of awards over the years... it's not just poor performers that are let go.
My advice :
- If you get a 10-15 minute unexpected meeting invite with any higher up, you are getting laid off. Setup your phone to video tape this meeting interaction. You'll be kind of shocked and will forget a lot of what is said.
- Your access to your computer and all company access will be terminated immediately when you are notified. You won't be able to retrieve/send corporate emails, access your emails, slack access will be cut. Prepare yourself for this - who are you going to want to contact after layoff (get personal emails, phone numbers, etc) - back up everything you need now. (Your emails probably have all the information for everything you've worked on and all your correspondence - you'll be happy to have this saved in case you need to access this later on).
- If you plan to get another job after termination - for goodness sake, update your resume NOW. Pay a resume writing service if you have to. Get active on LinkedIn if you aren't already. Connect with a head hunter.
- If you live in California and get laid off as part of WARN, you'll be let go immediately but you will remain on the payroll for 60 days. You can still apply for unemployment immediately - and Teradata won't tell you that.
Today's world is not yesterday's world. Loyalty and longevity at a company have no meaning anymore. It's easier to get a job when you have a job. Start looking now.
Don't be unprofessional and say anything that burns any bridges. I know several laid off employees that have been rehired back at Teradata a few months after they were laid off. Even if you have no intention of staying at Teradata if you are rehired, any job is better than no job. Just play the game and take care of yourself. This company does not care about you!
I hope this is helpful...
I got a great review the week before I was riffed. No rhyme or reason. Best thing that ever happened and never looked back.
The HR Talent Director of TD is 20 years that cut people without compassion but …. Will arrive the ✂️also for her
Those talented lying directors and VPs are all that's left. The ones with integrity are all gone.
Just brush up your resume & start looking, back up your files, take care of loose ends, and treat every day at the company as your last.
They take delight in sacking you so they can stay and get your shares.
