Thread regarding CVS layoffs

I was laid off from a script

Manager set up a meeting with me. As soon as the meeting began, we said hello, then manager began reading a script. No human element at all. Just read the script. I sat there for 5 minutes as manager recited the script…no “sorry”, no kind words. Just a script.

Corporate America is cold. We mean nothing to our companies.

Luckily I had 2 jobs and the other one pays more. Now I have 1 job.

Thanks manager for the robotic interaction as I was laid off. This is why I had 2 jobs.

Those who are not managers do not understand as a manager there are many things you cannot do or say in these circumstances for legal reasons. My peer had a strong feeling she was being tape recorded as she delivered her message to a remote employee. Its a terrible situation for everyone

Don't put the blame on your manager. Their hands are tied. As someone that has had to deliver these messages (not at CVS) I can attest to the fact that leaders are given very clear instructions and can't deviate at all from the company script.

The exact same thing happened to me as well. A five minute script and if I had any questions. Of course, I didn't. I'm sure they have more direction on laying off than how to actually keep employees happy, and the company stable.
sorry this happened to you as well but have hope there's better in the future!

I feel this so much.... happened to me, too.
That script is mandated by HR.... if they deviate from it and tell you something different than the 'party' line, make promises/assurances, it could put the company and the person delivering the message in jeopardy for a lawsuit.

Same thing happened to me - I am sorry. I had been with the co. for 6 years. Not even a Thank you.

I am so sorry this happened to you, and the way it happened. My supervisor cried during our team meeting.
