What IT ??? All the technical IT folks got laid off between June 2020 and May 2021. The only "IT" left, if you want to call them that, are non-technical paper pushing project managers who will just transfer over as project managers to other functional areas. All REAL IT functions at boeing have been handled by outside companies for over 2 years !!! Back then 95% of IT just said F ' IT, took the severance package, and are now working the same job for another fortune 500 company !!! Good riddance to boeing !!!
A friend told me today she just got an IT ILO...
"IT always gets slammed. I don't know why anyone would choose that as a profession"
we should choose a more useful and skilled profession like bureaucrat or liaryer
Is this why we can’t get any computers fixed or brown my in new ones that actually work ?
Perhaps the original commenter can comment regarding what team or IT functions are impacted?
IT is very broad and means allot to different people based upon past IT exposure……….
Example:
- Some consider IT to be Laptop support and assistance
- Help Desk functions like password reset
- Maintaining current tribal Boeing unique systems
- Maintaining current off the shelf systems Boeing uses i.e. ERP, SAP and Ariba
- Boeing Computer Services ……..this is a blast from the past
- Mainframe
I used to work in fear of getting an ILO but I now work in fear of not getting an ILO.
I thought all the IT people left Boeing many years ago? Back when Boeing motivated their engineers to leave when they outsourced everything to gain favor with Wallstreet and artificially drive stock price to the stratosphere for executive bonuses.
Anyhow, I know the best IT people left Boeing long ago just like the best engineers did. Boeing was always just a stepping stone for young people to get a little IT experience to help them get hired by a real IT company and then earn way more than they ever could at Boeing.
From all the endless project failures, Boeing must now only have clueless leaders leading inexperienced people in all disciplines. It took Boeing decades to create an experienced workforce to successfully compete in the aerospace business. That's all gone now and it's no longer possible to bring it back.
Well, did they go out or are you full of cr-p like everyone else here?
