Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

question on layers of management from current vmware employee

keep hearing that Broadcom runs a flat org. How flat is it?

What is a typical layer of org chart from IC to Hok?

IC -> manager -> director -> vp -> Hok ?

Is that as flat as it gets? thx

IC -> Supervisor -> Manager -> Sr.Manager -> Director -> Sr.Dir (only in Engg)-> VP and then SVP/GM

Expect very few Sr. Managers and Directors and VP's you can count them on your fingers and just one SVP who is also the GM.

so, stay too long, you might have a problem trying to justify why you are a manager with a SD salary. BC owns your soul after awhile and keeps you on your toes all the time.

Depends on business group, this is my current line:
IC -> manager -> director -> vp/general manager -> Hok

I was a Director at Broadcom with two managers reporting to me, three ICs reporting to me and 12 ICs reporting to my managers.

I came over to Broadcom as an IC.

Directors, VPs, shouldn't expect to come over at that same level. We have very few Directors and VPs.

It seems you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a VP at VMware.

Insert a General Manager between VP and Hock, and that would be the maximum.
