Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Severance

Does anyone know details of severance offered in the last (May-June) round of layoffs? Was there any minimum or maximum cap put ?

COBRA (continued coverage of medical) - you pay and can continue coverage for 18 months.

Historically this is what they have done

  • 8 weeks WARN
  • 2 weeks for each year of service
  • 6 months COBRA, you pay.
  • November RSU vest
  • Career counseling

If you get cut, they will clearly let you know the severance. No use worrying about it unless it happens.

Actually, very few will be asked to retire. And if Qualcomm targets any specific demographic they will be sued. Please don’t use inflammatory remarks to make things worse for the people who are going through this. It’s bad enough as is it.

Right now projects are being prioritized. Any project eliminated puts those attached to the project on the chopping block. From there they will start filtering: China based goes first, then working remote, not returned to office, and finally most expensive.

It won’t be quite as cut & dry as that, but it gives you an idea of what is happening. If you live in San Diego and haven’t returned to the office, you can feel fairly certain you have handed your job to someone in QIPL.

There would be a cap so that people here for long long time think 20 years plus

I think this time a lot of old timers would be targeted

Most of them don't bring any value on comparison with their salaries
