Thread regarding BD (Becton Dickinson & Co.) layoffs

Any word on end of quarter layoffs/end of year layoffs?

Typically this is the time of the year they lay off people between now and the town hall next week. Any word on anything?

I found this statement by someone that seems to ring true at my site. Line out Sumter and insert Mebane.

"Management is a circus run by bunch of clowns! Sumter BD you don't know what you're walking into everyday! Management changing the rules as they go. You never know whether you have a job from one day to the next..."

It's terrible that sites are run like this and management doesn't listen. They think they are above everything. Our site director doesn't want to hear negative comments and just focuses on the positive which I believe will ultimately get him fired. An effective manager should listen to negative and positive and use comments as a tool. Seriously, I could team up with other employees and write a book about all the mindblowing things that go on in Mebane. SO much unethical and unprofessional management it is ridiculous. Mebane doesn't really need layoffs except for a few "leadership" people because we have a revolving door at the entrance.

Is Sumter really that mismanaged lately? The previous plant manager and rubber department manager have been gone for quite some time now. The plant won part of the HP Becton Quality Award back in 2021 (for what that is worth). Rubber had issues back then and sets struggled with staffing - but to send the site back into the tank after only 2 years would take some real work. The other BUs there seemed fine.

It is funny (not) to read all these posts because it seems like Sumpter, Mebane and other BD sites seem to have "circus' "going on. Bad management highlighted by even worse HR with the kicker of unethical behavior. I know Mebane has had numerous ethics complaints and nothing ever seems to be done. Typically, September is "head hunting" month for BD and jobs get cut. If this happens for both these sites the unfortunate fact is the people who need to go will be "protected" and continue to be fat and happy in their position while continuing their campaign to promote their agenda instead of "Doing what is right". I know we've all heard that BD statement before.

Regular employees don't know what's going on in Sumter. Some changes from 12 to 8 hour shifts. There's no transparency. Management won't say what's going on. Employees leaving by the droves that have been there for years and their reputation is do bad they can't even get contingent workers.

I pray every day that layoffs are coming soon. There is so much dysfunction at BD Mebane it is ridiculous. Such a small site yet so much drama and mismanagement along with a pseudo-HR wanna-be who just te--orizes employees and stays locked up in her office looking at Facebook and figuring out who to pick on next. It's ironic that our site manufactures cancer kits yet BD can't figure out how to get rid of the "cancer" that plagues our site and has caused a steady decline and revolving door of employees.

I have heard that MMS is still chasing a major FY24 budget shortfall. I would expect some changes to come soon.
